    The Perfect Desk Top HP Printer

    This purchase was to replace the one I had, which was exactly the same. My old one has had issues for a few years, felt it was time to change. I did not want to baby sit anymore. Very happy with my purchase, it was easy to install, and I am back up and operating again.

    stalking the elusive reliable, inexpensive printer

    I wanted a reliable printer with a large ink capacity,to keep the cost per copy as low as possible, and I wanted to spend no more that a hundred dollars. After extensive research and reading online chat sites which discussed various printers, I settled on the HP5740, because this seemed to be a printer, meeting my criteria,that most Techies agreed was a great printer for the price. Having used the printer for only a few weeks, I can't comment on the reliabilty, other than that it works, so far. However, it was easy to set up, the color repro is good, and the black printing is nice and sharp, and it's quiet. The unit has a small footprint too, which is nice.

    Software works well with Windows XP,Windows 7,so I will stick with this model type for a while longer.

    The one that I already own does all my printing needs.Paper feed is good but can get stuck at times,but is easy to correct.Replacement cartridges quite expensive.

    Quick and easy set up

    I purchased this printer to go with the WebTV system my mother has. There are very few printers available for WebTV but this is one of them. It was so easy to set up and is so easy for my 80 year old mom to work. She was so happy to have a printer and has had no problems learning to use it. The directions are step by step. There was only one cable that I had a difficult time knowing where to plug it in but when one spot didn't work I tried the other one and it did work. The printer is not the most compact but it easily sits on a computer cart. It has the ability to print in Black and White, as well as color. I would recommend this printer but I don't think it is available in stores anymore.

    Fantastic Printer!

    This was my second one....and the first one lasted over 10 years! Print quality is excellent and I can get the ink cartridges for $2.50 each on line! The printer shipped faster than expected, too! The only complaint was no cords where included in the box....but I had my old ones, one of which fit but had to buy the 2nd one at Walmarts for 5 bucks, no big deal!
